It wasn't a strange sight, a smile on young Colton Mercer's lips. It never really had been. If you knew Colton, he was a free-spirited, laid-back, kind-hearted individual. However, in the past four months, his smile had become less and less visible. Until finally, it had all but died. The kind of sickness that he'd endured had been... soul-crushing, to say the least. However, he now had a new lease on life. That disease had finally left him, and Colt felt as if this were a second chance. He wasn't sure exactly what he was going to do with it; he was more taking it one day at a time. However, he did know the most important thing in his life. It went by the name of Eden Lucitania. The first thing he'd done with his new life had been to make sure that she would be his in the most unquestionable way. He'd asked the beautiful brunette to marry him. And with that, an entire new field of possibilities had opened up to him. Sure, he'd had to take things slow at first. It took a while for him to get his strength back, and he still wasn't sure if it was all there. He hadn't been healthy in so long, he'd almost forgotten what it felt like. Slowly, but surely, he'd started to go out and do the things he'd done so many times before. The first time he'd gone running again had been the most freeing experience he'd ever known. Sure, he hadn't been able to go near as far as he had before, but the fact that he could run was enough in itself. It was exciting, knowing that he could have some form a of normal life once again.
Ever since he'd started recovering, that ring that he'd put on Eden's finger had been on his mind almost constantly. Despite the fact that he was so young, he knew what it would mean, getting married to her. Believe you him, he was very ready for that. There was nothing more in life that he wanted than the young woman he loved so very much. There were some who thought he was moving to quickly by wanting to get married already, but it really wasn't that quick at all. not to him. From the moment he'd met Eden, he'd known that he loved her. And he felt as if he'd known her his entire life. Besides, he'd already been on death's door. When he loved something as deeply as he loved Eden, he knew now not to let it slip through his fingers. He didn't want to die with that kind of regret. Luckily for Colton, it seemed as if she was just as eager for marriage as he was. It may have been conceited to say that he wasn't surprised, but it was true. She'd expressed time and time again how much she loved him. It was only logical that she would want this, too. Which was why they currently in his car, on their little day trip. The couple had compiled a list of possible places to have their wedding, and they were in the middle of looking. Honestly, Colton almost couldn't care less where it happened, as long as it did happen. Still, he supposed that he wanted the day to be as perfect as possible. Though, really, with Eden being the one he'd be saying his vows to, he doubted it would be anything but perfect. So, as he drove, he stole quick glances at her, unable to keep his eyes from her for too long. This entire trip in itself was exciting, and it was only reminding him even more of how much he loved her. "So. Where to next?" He asked, looking at her from the corner of his eye. Secretly, he'd already forgotten the names of where they'd been, but he had a feeling she would remember. He was just going to have to play it smooth for the rest of the day, and he'd be fine.

Eden Lucitania had never been happier in her entire life. All the moments between her and Colton had been special and close to her heart, but nothing compared to this new freedom they had together. Colton had a new lease of life, and he was using it to the fullest, and that constant smile on his face could not have made Eden any happier. There were a couple things that she absolutely lived for, and making Colton smile was one of them. She was happy to be the cause of most of his happiness, and she was happy to be part of the things that he chose to live for. Something that made them both extremely happy was that ring on her finger. In the light of the sun, Eden wiggled her fingers, the ring catching the light and throwing it across the car. A bright smile spread across her face. She was engaged. Engaged to the love of her life, the only person that would ever matter so much to her. Her beloved Colton Mercer, whom she returned her hand to after she played with her ring for a moment. God, she loved him so much. More than absolutely anything, anywhere, ever. She couldn’t have been happier to have been marrying him, especially after everything they’d gone through. Trial after trial, and finally, they were catching a break. Finally, they were free to be happy without restrictions, and it made Eden Lucitania feel good. That day, they were heading around to all the different places they could get married, which sent a thrill through Eden‘s veins. It was almost like it was cementing it for her - that this was actually happening. That it wasn’t all just a fairytale. She was actually getting married to Colton Mercer. A large smile spread across her face, echoing the deeply felt joy within her.
The girl glanced over at him, noting the way her heart still picked up a few notches as she studied his side profile. God, he was just as perfect as the day she’d met him. Nothing would ever change that, she thought, that smile still on her face. Her gorgeous husband to be, on the inside and out, and he wanted her out of all the people he surely could have had. It made her simply glow, but even now, after she was reassured he would always love her so much, no matter what she did, it still put some amount of pressure on her. To get things right, to make sure she didn’t screw up. However, it seemed like with Colton, that type of thing was just as effortless as breathing. She didn’t even have to try and get things right around him - it just happened. Of course, he had told her, anything she did was right. That helped a little, especially when the right things turned those beautiful lips of his upwards. Her fingers twined with his, she looked out at the fields they were passing. They were currently kind of in the middle of nowhere, and it was just so gorgeous out there. Eden’s dark eyes perceptively glanced at the flowers and trees, before her heart jumped. ”Colton, Colton!! Stop the car! Oh my God, Colt! Stop the car!” She told him excitedly. He slammed to a stop, glancing at her worriedly, but she didn’t notice. She was already out the car door, her heart pounding as she looked both ways, then ran across the street. She walked straight into the grass, into a field of flowers, spinning around. ”Colton!" She called, turning to look at her fiance, ”Does this place look familiar to you at all?” Her tone was mischievous, and she beamed over at him, before gesturing for him to come out to join her.

When Colton thought about everything he'd been through with Eden in the relatively short amount of time that they'd known each other, it only served to reinforce his decision. After all, how many young couples could say that they'd overcome as many hurdles as they had in merely the span of a year? A lot of people didn't believe in love at first sight these days, but young mister Mercer knew that it was exactly what he'd experienced with Eden. Honestly, he did hope that more people could have the kind of relationship that he had with Eden. Maybe then they would understand their feelings towards one another. It seemed since almost day one, there had been someone, somewhere, who was against them being together. Though, no matter what or who got in the way, they'd managed to come out on the other side. Together. Stronger. Better. It was hard not to think of what had gone on between them, especially now that it seemed as if they were finally in the clear for a bright future. It was almost too good to be true and secretly, there was a worry somewhere deep within the young man. How long would their happiness really last? Life always had a way of throwing them a curve ball just when they thought they could be content. Still, he wasn't going to let that small fear overcome his life. No, his relief and excitement for their future was what won over everything else. Especially now that he knew that that future was almost guaranteed to be a long one. Any obstacle in their path was currently removed and Colt would sure as hell be making the most of it. And he was more than glad to see that Eden was on the same wavelength. She seemed to be savoring her time with him just as much. Something that would always make him smile.
As they drove through what seemed like the entire state, doing a task that would surely seem mundane to anyone else, there was still excitement in the young man. It was just bringing them one step closer to something they'd both yearned for for a long time. He watched her out of the corner of his eye as she played with the ring he'd put on her finger. The sight brought an invincible smile to his face, one that he doubted would ever leave. That is, until Eden was suddenly calling his name, telling him to stop the car. His foot immediately slammed on the break as his heart began to make up for the speed they were losing. He looked over to her with a worried expression "What-" but he hadn't had time to finish because she was darting out of the car and across the street. "Eden!" He called as she kept moving. Throwing it in park, he fumbled with his seat belt and managed to open the door, stepping out on to the road. It was a good thing that there were no other cars around as he was still in the middle of the lane. She shouted for him from the field she'd run into and he jogged across the street to meet her. The worry and fear began to fade from him as he looked around, realizing why she'd made him stop. A smile began to form on his face once more as he relaxed. His gaze went back to the brunette as he spoke. "I must have driven us straight back to Italy." He teased. Moving closer to her, he placed his hands gently on her waist, giving her a loving look. "It does look remarkably like it, doesn't it?"
