It was starting to turn out to be a long night at work. The bar was pack, it was karaoke night, and no one could sing. Leaving Mandy some what cranky. Not to mention that the day it self had been long enough on its own. Mandy had the distinct pleasure of of going to the high school to bail her sister out of trouble. Meaning she was the one yelled at. Something Mandy really didn't like. She didn't like waisting her time hearing how she was a bad example and how she needed to be a better parent to her sister. The truth was Mandy didn't want to be a parent. Thats why she let her sister do what ever she wanted for the most part. Mandy felt that her sister had to learn life the hard way. The same way she her self learned how do deal with things. Granted her sister wasn't as good at staying out of trouble as she was. But Mandy still felt no need to change her ways. Plus there wasn't much time in her life, so there wasn't much that could be changed.
But none of this was any different than most nights at work. What was different was that one of her co workers wasn't there. Tonight he didn't have a shift for another few hours. Leaving Mandy alone except for the new guy, who was useless since he could never remember how to make a drink correctly. Mandy was starting to get on her last nerv. She knew that she was going to be this way till she got some. But she didnt spy any one worth doing in the bar tonight. Meaning she was probably going to have to go home alone, which sucked. It wasnt like she worked for the money, she worked more to pick up guys and have something to do. But sometimes she felt it wasnt even worth it.
Leaning over the counter, talking to one of the customers, Mandy listened to the girl up on the stage. Making a snicker she spoke to the man. "Man she sounds horrible. I could so out do her." Mandy said with a wink, before stepping away from the counter and starting to make the man another drink as he laughed. But as she started to make the man his glass, he spoke. "Really. Well I would like to see that. How about you have a go little Missy. Theres an extra tip in it for you babe." The man said with a wink. Placing his drink down on the bar Mandy smiled. "Yea but who would keep refilling your drink." She said with a smile. Mandy had a hard time flirting with some of the guys that came in. Some were easier than others yes. But when it came to the older ones, Mandy just got a bit disgusted. But she never showed it. If she played along, she would get more tips. She flipping her hair she listened as the man spoke again, "Ah my drink can wait. Go up there." Mandy stood there for a moment before sighing and making her way from behind the counter.
As Mandy started to make her way to the small stage, the guy hit her ass. She made face of discuss before turning around and giving him a smile. What else could she do? She needed the good tips. With one last look at the costumers in the bar, Mandy stepped on stage and took the Mic. "Normally I don't do this." She started to say. "But it was requested by one of out lovely men." She said with a wink. Just then the music started and Mandy started to sing. The song that started to play was One Way Or Another by Blondie. Which was fine. It seemed to fit Mandy more than some of the other songs that could have come on. With that Mandy started to sing and dance around the stage, putting on a nice little show for the guys. Yes Mandy could get a little out of hand, but that was her personality. Plus when it came to more of a chance for better tips, the more of of hand she got.
Wasn't long before the song was over and Mandy was taking her bow. The whole bar clapping as she did so. "Thank you, thank you. I'm here all week." She said with a smile as she stepped off the stage. As she did she noticed Jay was in the back of the bar making a face her. It seemed like he was half laughing, but Mandy couldn't tell. She didn't even want to know, since she knew she had just made a fool of her self. Making her way to the counter, as quick as she could. She spoke to the other bartender. "Ill be in the back getting more vodka." She said before she all but ran into the back. With a sign she started to dig through the box's. She couldn't believe that she has just made such a fool of her self and in front of Jay. She knew that this meant that she was going to be made fun of for the rest of the week. Normally she wouldnt care, but she hated the guy. They never got along and this was just one more thing he could rag on her about. But with a sign, and box in hand, Mandy started to make her way out of the back room and back to the bar.
