( R O L E P L A Y S A M P L E )Rosie’s feet scuffed against the dirt on the ground as she swung idly back and forth. Her toes scrunched in her ripped up converse, and she watched the fabric stretch across her toes. Her attention snapped from one thing to the next in a normal beat, something that wasn’t unusual at all for her. Her mind was still racing, her heart starting to beat faster with every second that passed by. What if he really didn’t love her the way he had told her he did? She knew that Jared had a reputation for being a heartbreaker, but she had honestly never seen that side of him before. With her he was always a complete sweet heart, never letting that bad side show through. She had begun to think it was never there for a while, before he started telling her that she didn’t want to see his rough side. A blush rose to her cheeks again and she smiled, shaking her head. How pathetic. She was getting all giddy over a conversation on a computer. Rosie tilted her head to the side and stared out toward the street, watching the cars go by, and waiting for his car. She jumped in all her serenity when her phone dinged loudly, picking it up with a scowl. She’d all but forgotten the text she’d sent earlier, and was surprised to see a text from Jared. In her haste to open it, her small phone fell into a puddle of mud. She frowned, picking it up and carelessly wiping it off on her faded jeans. It still worked fine; the poor phone had been through a lot. She opened it and read quickly, laughing out loud. Rosie looked around, thinking someone might have seen her. When she saw that no one was watching, she looked back down, texting him back quickly. Her thumbs moved across the small keyboard that spelled out, ‘I would never do that to you, babe. ; )’. She chuckled one more time as she sent it, smiling. He would know she was kidding, but that there was something more hidden in her words. She shoved her phone back in her pocket again and looked up, not seeing his car yet. Rosie let out a deep sigh, throwing her head back into the sunlight. It hit her face like a breath of fresh air and made her feel a lot less nervous. Really, there wasn’t a lot to be nervous about. She hadn’t seen Jared in a while because he’d been ‘busy’, and she had been having a hard time with her disease lately. It wasn’t a big deal; they would still stay best friends even if one of them moved across the country. And there was no way in hell Rosie was letting that one happen, so the pair was pretty much set for life. Rosie heard a car pull up and footsteps advance towards her and her head snapped forward, making her hair fall in her face. She pushed it away, and grinned when she saw Jared walking towards her, looking a little guilty and scared. Rosie bit her lip, forcing the blush from her neck to stop from rising to her face. The poor girl couldn’t help it if every time she saw him, she thought of him naked. Nope, that was entirely his fault. She smirked at him, looking down at his shoes. Rosie laughed, knowing that only he would wear those. “Nice shoes, JayJay.” She joked, licking her lips. It made her heart slow down a little, calling him that. Rosie had made up that nickname for him when she was eleven years old, and it reminded her that they would always be together every time she used it. Every time she saw that it was what he wrote on nametags, what he used as his screen name, anything. The best part was that no one else was allowed to call him that, it was Rosie’s nickname at that was it. It made her feel more special than a lot of other people made her feel. Rosie frowned a little at his shy greeting, like he was nervous about something. She got up, cursing as her phone fell out of her pocket. She picked it up and set it on the bench, mumbling a ‘fuck you’ to it before she turned back to Jared. Rosie sighed, folding her arms over her chest. “Hey? That’s all I get?” Her bottom lip trembled in faux sadness, even though in reality she was a little peeved she didn’t get a more enthusiastic greeting. Oh well, he never really was an excitable one. Unless you were talking about his silky boxers. She grinned again, laughing at her little mind joke. Rosie took a few more steps forward and wrapped her arms around his stomach, her arms underneath his jacket. She pulled herself close to him, breathing in as her eyes fluttered closed against his chest. “You smell good.” She said honestly, breathing in again. He didn’t wear any shit cologne like other guys, he just smelled like Jared. Like soap and dirt and deodorant and mints and spices and anything else amazing she could imagine. It was like that potion in harry potter that smelled like whatever you liked the most. Except Jared smelled that way without her drinking love potion. Rosie was on her tippy toes, annoyed at the fact that he was so much taller than she was. He might have been two years older, but that was no excuse to be a whole foot taller. It just made her look pathetic.
