People may leave, but they hardly stay that way. Welcome back to Newport, California. Many know it as the hub of drama, jealousy, fun, and the constant sun. Some see it as their home, or their past lives. Ryan, Seth, and Summer are among those that used to consider this place home. Since then, they've gone their own ways, and accomplished their own tasks. Ryan graduated from Berkley, and no surprise to his parents, he was near the top of his class. Now, he is back in town, looking for a job as an architect, and to see his brother. Seth is back to support his brother, and also to follow his own dreams. Seth graduated from Brown, and during that time, created enough comics for two or three graphic novels. Several companies are talking to him, trying to get the rights to publish his novels. While not the same boy as those four years ago, not much has changed... other than the part of his heart that Summer bruised when she deicded she wasn't coming back after her year traveling. She never came back to Brown, instead traveling across the globe to help the earth in every way she could. Having lost contact with both Seth and Ryan, there is only one person that knows that she is back in town for an activist rally - Che Cook. He spoke to her, and is now on his way back to town to meet up with her. With her father offering to buy her a house to keep her in town, maybe she'll stick around longer than a few weeks.
But even all this isn't enough drama for Newport. Everyone knows that when you have a gathering in this town, things get out of control, people get punched, and people get hurt. Along with the three old friends coming back, you have a few others trickling back into the port town. Taylor Townsend, Luke Ward, Jimmy Cooper... you never know who you'll see making their way back to town. And for what reasons? Well, those are secrets to each individual.
You think that would be enough, right? Wrong... there is one major wrench getting thrown into the inner workings of Newport that no one saw coming, not even Julie Cooper-Nichol. That day that Ryan and Marissa got run off the road by Volchok, everyone thought she died. Very few knew the truth, however. that Instead of dying, the tall blonde was thrown into a coma, and was reported to be stuck at a state of vegitation. The doctors said there was a slim chance she would ever wake up again. Ryan, Summer, Seth... it affected them deeply, the fact that their friend was basically gone from them. Hence, what started their spiral the summer before college. But something is happening in the hospital... the monitors are registering brain-waves again, and when they do their routine check-up, they can see her fingers twiching, see her eyes moving behind their eyelids. None of them can guess what will happen when she wakes up, though. After being asleep for four years, she can't just wake up, and be herself... right?
