_____________________________________________________________ Stretching a bit, Colton glanced at himself in the mirror before grabbing his wallet and keys, turning to head out the front door of his house. Pulling his phone out of the front pocket of his jeans, he glanced at the time, relieved to see that he would be on time for his tattoo appointment after all. Slipping it back into his pocket, he approached his red mustang and unlocked the door, slipping inside and turning on his favorite cd and pulling out of his driveway, heading towards High Voltage. After a few minutes, he parked in front of the building and stepped out of his car, locking it and heading inside the building. He loved this parlor, and was glad that he chose to come here. They were the ones that had done his arm, and now they were finishing off his chest piece. The artist was amazing, and the rest of the staff had quickly become friends with him. Running a hand over his face as he spoke to the guy who would be doing his chest, he mentally noted that he needed to shave. He'd spent the past couple of nights staying up late, attempting to locate his ex girlfriend in order to see his son. As he thought of her, he could feel that bitterness he harbored welling up in his chest, but he shoved it aside as he stepped behind the counter and pulled his shirt off, settling into the artist's chair as he began to prepare for the tattoo. He let his mind wander to the thoughts of Silver, of how she had left him a month after she had told him that she was pregnant with their child. He had almost lost his mind then, and if it hadn't been for Liam he might not even be around right now. Now, all he wanted to do was see his son. He could care less about seeing Silver; in all honesty, he wasn't even sure if he could forgive her. There had been a day she had sworn she wouldn't leave, that she would always be there. Looking back at it all now, he felt extremely foolish for believing her words. But love tended to make people stupid, and he knew that all too well now. Snapping out of his thoughts and coming back to reality, he fell into conversation with the tattoo artist as he applied the stencil to Colton's chest after he stood.
Checking it out in the mirror, he nodded his approval and sat back in the chair, the excitement of getting a new tattoo flowing through his veins. He loved getting inked up, no matter if he had a slight phobia of needles. The fact was that getting tattoos was addictive, and he'd love them since he was young. His first piece had been the one on his arm, and he absolutely loved it. He had the same artist that was about to tattoo him now draw it up, and it had turned out beautifully. The guy had skill, and that wasn't something anyone could deny. Leaning back in the chair, he heard the whirring sound of the gun, and soon felt the artist's hand on his chest, followed by the pricking pain of the needle entering his skin to permanently set the ink there. Closing his eyes, he let himself relax, measuring his breathing calmly as the artist continued along the outline of the stencil. It took some time for him to finish the outline, and after a fifteen minute break, he was right back at the tattoo, now beginning on the shading. Colton honestly couldn't wait to have it finished; it had been a piece he had wanted since he was seventeen years old, and now he was finally getting it, and he knew for a fact that it would look absolutely amazing. After an hour and forty five minutes, it was complete. Rising from the chair after the excess ink was washed away and the A&D ointment was applied, he grabbed his shirt from the chair. Not being much of a bleeder when it came to tattoos, he waved away the saran wrap and grinned at the artist, who was also his friend, C'mon now man, we both know I don't need that. I'm just not gonna put my shirt back on. He laughed slightly and slapped hands with his friend before walking back up front, pulling out his wallet and his cash, ready to pay for the amazing job the artist had just completed.
Bidding everyone goodbye, he slipped his wallet back into his pocket and reached into the front pocket, pulling out his iphone and turning the screen on, checking the time. It was only four in the afternoon, and he grinned a bit at the fact that it was so early. Unlocking his phone, he started shuffling through his contacts as he pulled his keys out of his pocket. He was planning on calling Liam to see what he was up to; the guy was probably one of the closest friends Colton had, considering he didn't let a whole lot of people into his life. Looking up as he stepped off of the sidewalk, ready to head to his car, a motion in his left peripheral caught his attention and he turned his head to see what it was. Immediately, he froze, his whole body tensing and his mind going numb. It couldn't be, could it? There was no way in hell she was standing there, looking at him, not after all this time. Narrowing his eyes, his body spurred into motion, and he turned, walking towards her, his mind racing, What the fuck are you doing back here, Silver? He was angry, and it was very clear he wasn't happy to see her. Why was she back? To torment him more? Shaking his head as he glared at her, he could feel his hands shaking slightly. The slight pain that he had felt from the fresh tattoo was the farthest from his mind right now; the chill in the air that he should have felt while shirtless was something he was not aware of. The only thing he could focus on was that she was back, that she was standing right before him, and he was not happy about it. He could feel the anger boiling in his veins as his eyes met hers, and his jaw clenched slightly as he awaited her response. He had every intention of getting an explanation from her, and then walking away without so much as another glance in her direction. He wanted her to know how it felt to have someone you cared so much about just walk away without a single word.

she was all nerves, keeping both hands on the steering wheel. she was rehearsing all the things she wanted to say, what she could say. she was anxious to see him, it had been so long. but she was excited still. glad that she’d finally gotten the courage to “stick it to the man” as they say, when it came to her restrictive parents. they were – overbearing, to say the least, and she’d long since tired of it. it had been her decision, not the best one she’d ever made clearly, to have had a baby. but they didn’t understand. she had to do this. she’d gone this long without seeing colton, and she felt like shit every day lucas went without a father. sure, he was a baby – now. but what would happen when he got older? when he started to ask around? what would she say to him then? “sorry luke darling, you have no idea who your dad is because grandma and grandpa forbade your momma from being within 100 miles from the man.” no. it was wrong, sylvie knew that, and she couldn’t stand for it anymore. but it wasn’t just for lucas’ benefit that she wanted to see colton. silver had her own reasons as well. she’d been forced to leave the city so fast, she’d hardly gotten to speak to colton beforehand. she hated the way she had left. she wanted to see him. so she’d packed up a suitcase, mostly of lucas’ clothings and toys, with a few of her spare bits of clothes. she hadn’t said anything to her parents, left them a note and drove off with her car and her kid. this was out of their hands, and she’d listened to their advice, to what they thought was best, with her mouth shut, for as long as she could. she had to take control, of something. of her life. besides, it was way past due for her rebellion. she was an adult now, and they no longer had a say in what she did, or who she saw. colton wasn’t a threat either way. her judgemental parents just didn’t like his, background, his appearance, or his job – one, she might add, her parents still refused to call a real one.
so she’d called up liam, who’d thankfully kept the same number for the last few years. she’d always been close friends with him, even if they had met through colton in the first place. liam had been – cautious, at first, to get a call from silver. or maybe, he was just worried on his friends behalf. the boy was much too sweet for his own good. she’d always known that. so he’d told sylvie where she’d be able to find colton that day. getting a new tattoo. somehow, in the midst of all her anxiety over seeing colton again, she somehow still found room to wonder curiously what type of tattoo he’d gotten this time. or rather, how many he’d gotten in the last two years. she didn’t know very much about what he’d been doing in that time, only the few trinkets of information she’d received from a few of her friends, the few drifting bits of gossip and such about the band in general, but she didn’t know very much about him. the colton – two years after she’d left him. she wondered, would he even want to see her again? but – he had to understand why she’d left. had to know beforehand why, how she’d had no say? no choice in her big disappearance. he had to have known. it had been a whole year and a half, at the least, since she’d seen colton. a year since she’d actually spoken to him, come lucas’ birthday. she finally reached high voltage, parking the car on the curb of the street. she turned in her seat, to glance back at lucas. he was sleeping in his car seat. she made a face. the poor guy, it had been a long drive. but she’d wanted him to be awake when she came to see colton, so that the two of them could meet, properly. he’d only be grumpy now, if she were to wake him. and in that case, he’d hardly want to be thrust into a someone, who he’d think is a stranger’s arms. she supposed, it was nap time anyway, and it was probably for his own good, if he got a little shut eye. colton could always see him while he slept. but this meant she wouldn’t be taking him out of his car seat either. she supposed, she’d just stand outside of the car.
she turned back in her seat, glanced over at the tattoo parlor with uncertainty. colton was right through those doors, yet she could feel herself chickening out. she was so close, like she’d wanted to be for the past year. she had been waiting for this moment for so long, the chance to see colton again. but now it all seemed to be hitting her at once. what if he’d changed so much over the years that he hated her now? what if he didn’t want anything to do with her or luke? silver chewed on her bottom lip, glancing back up to her rear view mirror. she gave herself a hard look, a shot of determination. she was unwilling to waver when she was so close. the entire trip here would have been pointless. and if he didn’t want anything to do with her, that was – his decision she supposed. she wouldn’t be able to do anything about it, even though she hoped beyond hope that wasn’t the decision. hope was really all she could go by now. she climbed out of the car in a sudden burst of determination. silver stood infront of her car door, patting the back of her hair down cautiously – somehow still finding the room to worry about her appearance in front of colton. the pit of her stomach twisted in raw anticipation and anxiety. she worried that she’d end up falling over with the emotion. and then she saw him, as he opened the door. her heart stopped, and she was still finding the voice to call out to him when he turned to see her. but he didn’t seem happy about seeing her, in the least. she jumped back, flinching slightly at the anger in his voice. she wasn’t good with anger. nor at getting yelled at. she rather hated it actually, and unlike most, she was terrible at ignoring it. ”er – nice to see you too?” she replied back innocently, attempting a small smile, with a mild hint of sarcasm. ”I came back for you colton" she insisted.

_____________________________________________________________ As she claimed that she had come back for him, he tightened his already clenched hands and glared at her with an intensity that none had ever seen come from him. He was normally the calm and collected one, the quiet one that didn't ever seem to lose his cool. But as those words fell from her mouth he could feel the bitterness and hatred rising in his chest and putting a rather sour taste in his mouth. She had come back for him? Shaking his head, refusing to tear his eyes from her, he spoke, his voice harsh and cold, There's nothing for you to come back to, Silver. So you might as well go back the way you came. You wasted your fucking time. Turning on his heel swiftly, he began to walk away from her, his hands shaking, still clenced into fists. After a few moments, he undid then and began to dig around for his keys when a strange sound assailed his ears. Glancing over his shoulder, he noticed something moving in the backseat of the girl's car, and he froze in mid stride, feeling his heart almost stop and his breath grow shallow. Furrowing his brow, he exhaled sharply and turned, walking back over to her without saying a word. Pushing past her, he looked into the back seat of the car and immediately, his eyes widened and his jaw dropped. The child was awake now, gazing up at Colton with wide, confused eyes. Shifting and turning his solid gaze onto Silver, Let me get this straight. You leave for a year, take my son away from me, leave me here to pick up all the pieces of my life that you shattered, and you show up now with the hopes that I'll leap at the chance to let you back into my life? Stepping away from the window and closer to her, he looked down at her, his mouth in a hard line, The only one I care to see is Lucas. You could matter less to me.
He knew his words were harsh, but she had to know that he wasn't willing to let her back into his life. Not after the hell she had put him through all those months ago. Stepping back, he folded his arms against his chest and waited to see what she would do. He could only hope that she would bring his son out of the car, so he could hold him for the first time, but he figured the chances of that were unlikely. Many questions were tearing through Colton's mind, and he wondered where she had gone when she had left, but he was not inclined to ask. To be honest, he didn't really care. It was mere curiosity and nothing more. To him, she was nothing more than a bitter part of his past, one he didn't want to relive. He wanted to forget her, to forget that he had given her everything he had to give. He wanted to forget that he had fought so hard to be with her, despite her parents disapproval. The anger and bitterness was beginning to be replaced with emotions that he had simply shoved away for the past six months. Moving past her had started to become a hard process, but just a few weeks prior to the day it was not, he had begun the process by finally ridding himself of the pictures of her he had kept. He hadn't thrown them away, but simply put them in a box and put the box away in storage where he wouldn't be able to reach it easily. It was the first step of many, but it had gotten to a point for him where he was simply ready to move on and forget about her. He had been searching for weeks to find her for the sake of their son, but now that she was standing before him, he could see that seeing her again was almost completely unbearable. Inhaling deeply, he gathered his thoughts and mentally recomposed himself. He could feel the acid words rising on his tongue again, but he bit them back and clenched his jaw slightly before speaking again, Let me see him. I at least deserve that much. He knew he did, and he knew there would be no way she would dare deny his request to see his son.
Waiting patiently for her to get his son, he let his mind wander through the past year. In all reality he didn't want to be so rude to her, but he didn't know how else to get the point across that he simply didn't want to be with her after all she had done to him in the past year. In his mind, it was black and white. He had loved her, and she had ran off without so much as a goodbye, taking their child with him. As far as he knew, there was no reasoning behind it. Granted her parents hadn't like him, his way of life, the way he dressed; in fact, they hadn't liked a single thing about him, despite the fact that he was always polite to them and never rude and he treated their daughter wonderfully, but he severely doubted that they would take their daughter away from the thing that seemed to have made her happy. Shaking his head slightly at the thought of him seeming to make her happy, he scoffed slightly. Clearly, he hadn't made her happy enough. Yet, she hadn't given him the chance to prove himself; she hadn't given him the chance to show her exactly what kind of man he could have been, for her and their son. Now, he didn't even know who he was. The change he had gone through had been dramatic. Before she left, he had still been quiet and fairly withdrawn, but not quite as severe. He hadn't had issues with letting people in back then, at least not too much. But now, he didn't want anyone new in his life and it was very hard for him to let anyone in that wasn't already there. It sometimes caused issues between him and the band's manager and other various people that worked for them. Yet with Liam's help, he got by and he was even beginning to get back on his feet, though it would be a very long time until he would be back to the old Colton. And standing there, those eyes falling on Silver, he was reminded just how much he had actually changed, and he knew now that the road to recovery would be much harder than he had originally thought.

alright. not the exactly the greeting she preferred. on a scale of one to ten, with ten being the best, a sweet hug and kiss, telling her how much he’d missed her while she’d been gone, how he wanted to see lucas, and one, being the absolute worst where he might just walk away without a word – this was definitely a negative seven. one of the absolute worst of the bad “what ifs” that had haunted her, and her decision to come back for him. she supposed, it had been stupid of her to actually think he wouldn’t be angry. she knew, even before coming, that she shouldn’t have her hopes up. she’d promised herself not to and she thought she had. but like a fool, her mind had set itself up awaiting a ten without her own approval. some sort of hint that he might still accept her. all she could think now, was about how much he obviously hated her. she could see, from his clenched fists, his cold glare, he hated her, and she didn’t know what to say. his words were harsh, dry. the only emotion she could detect was a bitter loathing, and she could feel whatever small smile she had allowed on her lips for the briefest second disappear. her insides quenched together, dropping like a sixty ton bomb, over and over again. it was the worst feeling in the world – absolute rejection. he’d never spoken to her like that before. in fact, silver couldn’t ever remember him speaking to anybody in front of her this way. this was a side of colton she’d never seen before, and to be honest, it was rather frightening, enough that she actually felt herself flinch, even though she did her best to hold her ground. she opened her mouth to reply, but she could feel the words escaping her. there were too many emotions, and none of them were on the positive side. it was as if her hope had been drained with his icy glare, taking with it her words.
so she just stared at him, breathless. was he serious? she hadn’t wasted her time. she’d wanted to be here, to see him again, but he didn’t want her. he didn’t want her anymore. but what was she supposed to do now? all this time, she’d been waiting, impatiently, to see him again. she had nothing else. she shook her head stubbornly. ”no.” she said finally, having gathered all her remaining determination. her voice was quiet, but it was stern. or rather, as stern as she could make it while her entire world crashed down around her. it was as if he had taken her entire heart and trampled over it with a bulldozer - repetitively.but he was already walking away, and she couldn’t go after him. lucas was in the car sleeping, and she had to stay here for him. ”colton, wait! please” she called after him. she took only a step forward, unwilling to stray from the car. she hated how weak her voice sounded. she had become so used to being so independent, but she sounded so vulnerable with her plea for him to stay. she watched as colton turned back around, staring at something behind her. the car? lucas. he must have woken up, but he had yet to announce himself with his signature cry. she turned to check on the baby, but colton had already pushed past her to peer through the car window. silver watched his expression carefully, the wide eyes and dropped jaw. her heart skipped a beat to know that they were meeting for the first time. lucas hadn’t even begun to cry. ”that’s him,” she murmured softly, gazing from colton to lucas. she chewed on the bottom of her lip. she only hoped that colton might still accept the little boy, even though she had treated him so badly. he had been there in the beginning, when she’d first found out she was pregnant and had finally told him, he’d been there for her, even though they had both been entirely too young and stupid. he hadn’t left, even though her parents had been so sure that it would only be a matter of time till he did. in the end, it was her who had disappeared. involuntarily, but nonetheless, to him, it probably didn’t make a difference.
he had turned back to her again, the cold glare was back, but silver was still not emotionally prepared for his words. he made it sound so square, like there was nothing else to it. she had left him with their unborn son without a word. it made her sound selfish, as if she didn’t feel terrible as it was. ”its not that simple, don’t you get that?” she murmured under her breath, staring back at him. ”they shipped me off without a word. they didn’t want me near you. I tried colton, did you really think I wanted to leave?” she insisted, trying her best to explain. he had to understand. she had to try and get through to him. but it seemed his mind was already made up, perhaps for a long time now. there had been a deep reality in his words, and it was like a slap to the face. his mouth a line as he looked down on her and she stared back. she felt – empty. hollow almost, like the breath had been knocked out of her. and he was breaking her down piece by piece. she nodded once, the tears began to build up inside her. but she looked away quickly, breaking the eye contact and swallowing the emotion back. she wasn’t about to breakdown just yet, not in front of colton anyway. a small voice in the back of her head seemed to point out the only positive about his words, that he still wanted to see lucas. she moved around him, to the other side of the car to unbuckle lucas. he was right after all, in a way. he had so much reason to hate her and never want to see her again. she knew that. but it didn’t make it hurt any less when he was able to say it so coldly to her face. she cooed at lucas as she took him out, his arms flapping away in excitement to be relieved of the confides of his car seat. ”time to meet daddy lucas” she said gently, placing him on the side of her hip as she walked back to colton. she stood in front of him with the boy, waiting for colton to take him from her arms. she was nervous again.

_____________________________________________________________ She had asked him if he thought she really wanted to leave. He didn't bother answering, assuming the look he gave her would be enough of an answer for her. His mouth was still in a hard line, but as she pulled their son out of the back seat and brought him around, a small smile tugged at the corner of the boy's mouth. Reaching out, he took the young boy from her arms and held him, the father in his body taking over naturally. Looking down at his son, he spoke to him softly, Hey there little man. I'm glad to finally see you for myself. He could feel the love for his son pouring through his heart and his veins, almost completely erasing the anger and bitterness he felt towards Silver. Ruffling his son's hair gently, he looked at Silver. He could see the nervousness etched on her face, and clearly in her body language. He didn't say a single word, just turned his attention back to his son, grinning a bit. Lucas had his mother's eyes, that much was clear, but he looked the most like his father. Colton wasn't sure now what to do, and he didn't want to stand outside for much longer with Lucas exposed to the chill. It could be almost miserable for the child if he was out in it for entirely too long. Sighing a bit, he looked over at Silver again and spoke, his voice not as icy as before but it was still hard, How long are you going to be in town? He was hoping she'd be around for at least a few more days, in order to give him some time to spend with Lucas before she left again, but he didn't much count on it. Wincing a bit at the child's hand brushed against the fresh tattoo on his chest, he shifted the child a bit so he wouldn't be able to reach the tattoo that easily again. Awaiting Silver's response, he brushed a bit of hair out of Lucas' face before turning his attention back to the girl.
The irritation he felt for her was beginning to come back, now that he was holding his son and realizing this was the first time he had even seen the child. He knew Lucas was a full year old, and he was infuriated that he had missed his own son's birthday. Shaking his head clear, he focused on the love he was feeling for the young boy instead of the anger, not wanting put out negative feelings for Lucas to pick up on while he was being held. Sighing again a bit, he tried to think of a way he would be able to see his son again, and looking at Silver, he clenched his jaw a bit before speaking, If you want to bring him to my house, you're welcome to. He wasn't so sure he wanted her coming into his house, but what choice did he have? She didn't have to let him see his own son, and he supposed he could be a little more grateful for the opportunity to see him now. He could at least be cordial. Perhaps not friendly, but at least he could be tolerable for the time being. Using his free hand, he pulled his phone out of his pocket as it vibrated with the notification of a phone call. Answering it, he spoke swiftly, hanging up shortly after. It had been Liam, wondering if he was down for a practice in about an hour and a half. Of course, he had agreed. He loved to practice with the band, it was always a blast to do, and it was now a welcome opportunity to get away and perhaps relax a bit, getting his mind off of the fact that Silver was back and was attempting to work her way back into his life after all the time of being gone. Handing Lucas back to her, he slipped his phone back into his pocket before speaking, I have band practice in an hour and a half. If you wanna bring him by after that, you can. My number's still the same, assuming you still have it. If not, get it from someone else. He knew the words were a bit harsh, but he wasn't going to give her his number himself. He didn't feel like she deserved it anyways. Smiling at his son and ruffling his hair once more, he told the child goodbye as he pulled his keys out of his pocket and walked away, climbing into his car and pulling out of the parking lot of that tattoo parlor.
Immediately, he cursed himself for inviting her to come over. He wanted to see Lucas, but Silver was the very last person he wanted hanging around his house. He shook his head, knowing exactly why he was so angry that she was back. It wasn't the fact that she had left without so much as a word, not entirely. It was the fact that despite everything, he was still in love with her, and he was angry at himself for feeling that way after all the hell he had gone through on her behalf. Changing the album on his ipod to the latest Bury Your Dead album, he turned up the volume as he headed towards Liam's house to get his stuff together for the practice. He could feel the confusion filling his mind and the anger surging through his veins. He was unsure what to do when it came to Silver. Half of him wanted to let her back in, and forget everything she had put him through, but the other half of him simply wouldn't allow it; and that was the half that was winning, and that was making him so bitter and angry about her return. Screaming along with the singer of Bury Your Dead, he could feel every bit of anger fading from him. Though he was still unsure of what he was going to do about Silver's return, he knew one thing; she had brought their son back, if only for a short while, and he was going to do everything he could to be sure to be as much a part of Lucas' life as he could manage, considering Silver would allow it, though from the look she had had on her face when she had introduced Lucas to Colton for the first time, she would definitely let him be a part of the child's life, and for that he was thankful. Smiling a bit at the thought of his child, he turned on the street that led to Liam's house, feeling a bit of hope that things would be fine, for the first time in what seemed forever.

she couldn’t help but get nervous as she allowed colton to take lucas out of her arms. perhaps, it was a “mom” thing, but she wondered if colton would know how to hold him. did he need help? would he be alright? afterall, she couldn’t help but point out with a pang, he didn’t have a year of experience to begin understanding babies. but she could tell, as soon as he took the boy, he had a natural feel for these things. silver watched carefully as his icy gaze became so tender while holding lucas, and she looked away quickly, not wanting to get emotional all over again. he was so good at these things, and the guilt washed over her for the hundredth time over. It had been so wrong, morally, really to keep the two apart. she felt an immediate surge of anger suddenly at her parents, although she really didn’t know if it was them she ought to be angry with. silver had always, respected her parents – or at least tried to, even if she knew they were wrong. that was why it had taken her so long to rebel against them. she thought highly of them, as she had always been raised to. she was a good girl, good daughter – besides the entire early pregnancy business, she had been good. it was strange, this bitter anger she now held inside of her towards the ones that had separated colton and lucas. sure, forcing her to leave was unfair to her – silver had loved colt, probably still did, since they’d never really ended things. but it was even worse for lucas. colton would have been a great dad. but she hoped, it wouldn’t be too late now.
she glanced back at him, slightly dazed from her thoughts. she shrugged slightly, not knowing the answer to his question. his tone was still harsh, but she didn’t flinch away again. ”I – uh, I’m not sure yet. I’m staying with a few old friends for now, until I find a place of my own - somewhere” she answered quietly, making the briefest eye contact. she hadn’t really, thought that far into her plans. she had thought up to finding colton, and not much after that. she had a place to stay with lucas, for as long as she wanted they had said. she’d eventually get her own apartment of some sort of course. there was no way in hell that she was going back to her parents for money though, no matter that they had piles of it. she’d get a job, pay for it herself. his voice was hard again, when he spoke to her, but he seemed to refrain from using an icy tone with lucas in his arms, which she supposed she ought to be grateful for. she could deal with him yelling at her, she deserved it after all, but not while he was holding her baby. she hesitated when he told her she could go to his house with lucas. ”I’m not sure, if thats -“ she began, but the phone rang for him, and she pondered his offer. in a way, she kind of owed him this, didn’t she? she waited for him to get off the phone, taking lucas swiftly from her arms, and holding him on one hip. the boy immediately found a piece of her hair to wrap his knobby fingers around, yanking at her scalp. she made a face, gently lessening his grip, and turning her attention back to colton. an hour and a half, and then to come to his house? she thought for a second, her eyes lingering on the ground. of course ... she would. she wanted colton to spend some time with lucas, that was after all, one of the main reasons she had went back to look for him right? but that definitely also meant they’d be there together, and she was positive he now hated her, which worried her actually. anxiety twisted in her stomach but she found herself nodding slightly. ”alright, fine. I ... i’ll get it from liam or something,” she turned then, as he walked away from her.
silver locked lucas in his car seat, making sure to tighten the straps around the boy, as he was a bit of a squirmier. he screamed a little bit, unwilling to sit still, and she murmured to him. but she reached into her baby bag swiftly, taking out a bottle of milk and handing it to the baby who took it eagerly. silver turned then, sitting back down in the driver’s seat, she watched as colton drove away. her hands were shaking, and she sat there for a good ten minutes staring at the wheel to calm herself down. but she’d fucked everything up, and there wasn’t anything she could possibly do to fix it. any of it. she gritted her teeth back and forth, finally putting the car into reverse and driving off. she stopped at a nearby starbucks with luke, and they went down to pick up a coffee for her. she’d called liam, finding out the new address and recording his number once more. mother and son passed the time at a park, and she pushed him on the swings. time went by much too fast for her liking though, and before she knew it, she was back in the car with lucas strapped in the backseat, throwing goldfish all over the car. she’d usually be annoyed with the mess, but she was spending most of her energy paying attention to the road, and away from where she was going. dread, intense dread filled her up, and creeped up from somewhere under her stomach as she stopped in front of colton’s house. she starred at it from her car, unbuckling her seat belt and climbing out of the car. with lucas in her hand, his hand once more yanking at her hair, she rang the doorbell. ”hello again” she half murmured, allowing for the side of her lips to make the smallest of attempts at a smile. maybe, she could be hopeful, that the hour and a half apart had gotten him in a better mood about her sudden return? as if.

_____________________________________________________________ Practice had gone much better than he had anticipated. The anger that had been flowing through his veins came through his fingertips and he played much more passionately than he had in ages, but that wasn't to say that he didn't play passionately in the first place. Music was his life, and playing the guitar for the band was something he lived for. It was his favorite thing to do, outside of drink himself into oblivion, but he had recently given that up after deciding the effects weren't worth the short amout of time he had to forget everything. Grabbing his equipment, he said his goodbyes to the guys before heading out of the door of their practice spot and walked out into the parking lot, his guitar in one hand and the other hand in the front pocket of his jeans, searching around for his keys. She was still on his mind, but now his son was also there. The child was the one thing he had been searching for for the past year. His desire to find Silver had eventually faded and the feelings had faded into bitterness; and his son had been the only thing from his past that he didn't seem to have bitter feelings about. How could he? Lucas had done nothing wrong, he was just a child after all. Setting his guitar in the backseat of his car and climbing into the front, starting the engine and eventually heading towards his house, he allowed his music to clear everything from his mind and relax him as he pulled into the parking lot of the apartment complex and parked, climbing out and grabbing his things. Pulling out his keys, he entered his apartment and set his guitar against the couch before shedding his shoes and tossing his keys onto the dining table. Stretching, he turned as the sound of the doorbell echoed throughout his home. Sighing a bit, he figured it could only be one of two people, and having a good idea of who it was he waited a few minutes, walking into his room and grabbing a present he had bought the very day he had heard Lucas had been born.
Shuffling towards the door, he pulled it open once his hand came in contact with the cold metal of the knob, and he lowered his gaze to Silver. It was no longer as harsh as it had been earlier in the parking lot of the tattoo parlor, but it was still far from friendly and welcoming, but that changed as soon as his eyes landed on his son. It was very clear from his actions that, even though he had never met the boy before today, the amount of love he had for him was the thing that fueled him to allow her to be in his home. He had a desire to be there for his child, and nothing would ever stand in his way; that was a promise he had made a year ago, before Lucas had even been born. Stepping aside to allow Silver to enter the apartment, he spoke briefly, his tone much less icy than it previously had been, Yeah. Hi again. Shutting the door behind her, he held his hands out to take Lucas from her, and once the boy was securely in his arms, the hard exterior he kept up in front of her melted and the Colton she knew all too well came out, a grin spreading across his face. Looking at her, he tilted his head slightly. He looks like me, except with your eyes. Turning his gaze back to his son, he could feel his heart melting and pride swelling in his chest that he had been partially responsible for bringing such a wonderful child into the world. Catching glimpse of the book he had bought when he heard of Lucas' birth, he shifted the child a bit before looking over at Silver, holding it out to her, I bought this for him when he was born. It's not anything real great; just "Goodnight, Moon." It used to be my favorite book when I was little. After placing the book in her hands, he immediately moved away and sat on the couch, placing Lucas on his lap.
The time passed by all to quickly, and before he knew it, the sun had set and it had grown dark outside, the only illumination coming from the street lamps and the pale light given off by the moon. Glancing at the time displayed on the dvd player hooked up to his tv, he glanced over at Silver and sighed slightly, It's getting pretty late. When's his bedtime? He asked as he stood from the couch, passing him back to Silver as he stretched and cracked his knuckles slightly. As soon as Lucas was set securly back in his mother's arms, the walls came back up and he took a step back slightly, glancing outside before turning back to Silver with a single eyebrow raised, Where are you staying tonight? Despite the fact that he was still so incredibly hurt from what she had done, he couldn't deny the fact that he cared about her well-being, especially now that she had Lucas with her. He could only assume that she hadn't come all that prepared to stay anywhere for long, and he was willing to let her stay in his apartment for the night if she didn't have anywhere else to go, though it was definitely against his best judgement to allow that to happen, he still couldn't let her go out there with his son and not a clue as to where she was going to stay. Pondering for a brief moment, he spoke before he could really get the thought through his head, You know, if you don't really have anywhere to go tonight, you're welcome to stay here. Immediately upon hearing the words fall from his lips, he mentally kicked himself for making the offer. He wasn't so sure that allowing her to stay was such a good idea now, but what more could he do? He couldn't let her walk out of the door with nowhere to stay, assuming that she didn't have anywhere to stay. It was better to offer his home to her, than to not know where she was headed next, at least in his opinion. As he patiently awaited her reply, he chewed on his bottom lip slightly, his most obvious nervous twitch, something he had done ever since he was little. Confusion was welling inside of him, stemming from an intense desire to beg her to stay, and an intense desire to tell her to just leave, but if she left he wasn't so sure he would ever be able to see Lucas again, and that was something he simply did not want to happen.
